I met Sasha just over two years ago. I had just begun a partnership with Artisan Dance Studio. Sasha was part of the competition team at Artisan, and we met one spring evening to create urban dance photos downtown. I was immediately struck by Sasha's kindness, humility, and humor.
Sasha has joined me for a few sessions since then, and she always brings that same warmth and fun to each session.
As she heads into her junior year, Sasha will begin her latest challenge IB diploma candidate. She's especially looking forward to her IB Visual Arts course. English is her favorite subject, and her favorite book is All the Light We Cannot See. (I hear that she's also a fantastic writer.)
"Sasha loves her sisters fiercely, looks out for them, and sets aside time for them, especially her little 10-year-old protegee," her mother says. "She adores her little sister and plays a massive part in helping her little sis know how loved and valuable she is. About once weekly the girls carve out a day for a 'sister date,' where they hang out, go out to eat, and watch a movie or do something special."
Sasha is a great friend, an active community member, and fun-loving foodie. She is a great person, a role model for others. I look forward to seeing what the future holds for Sasha!
